A PARALLEL VORTEX

WHAT-ER Acque Acide – Art Performance in Live Streaming Milano-Yogyakarta

It’s like death from the Asian philosophy, your body dies and gets dissolved time by time, but your energy, your soul is still alive, still around.

A Solo Double Exhibition at the same time in Italy and Indonesia,

A Live Streaming Installation and Performance that was connecting 24/7 for 5 days the two sides of the world.

While in Varese, Italy a Live Performance of a Dissolving Shell was filmed, and those shooting were traveling via the web to be projected as a Hologram in Bali, Indonesia.

Vice versa the Hologram was filmed and projected back in Italy.

The relationship between the two rooms draws attention to how information, traveling quickly through live streaming, leads to a new type of language, in this case correlating a scientific experiment to an artistic event by keeping the focus on the main theme of the exhibition which wants to aware people about ocean acidification.

Alessio Ceruti is an Italian artist who lived in Indonesia for some years. He settled in Bali, a place that connected him with his hometown in Italy. Spending some times in Amed, a place in the north~east he began to experience the changing happening in the sea and that effect corals in many ways. From that moment he started to investigate about the ocean health.

From the information that he collected from the observation of sea biota, he remade this in his own studio, accelerating the natural process that is actually happening right now on the ocean. He made experiments recreating this using shells and acid waters. He founds his triggers through various effects such as consciousness of natural process – the anthropocentric world, how the civilisation interferes with nature, and he lives all this like a personal experience. This installation is also to present to the public as a notification, an awareness of how natures image is changing fast and showing a reality that we have never seen.

The process of “A Parallel Vortex”, connects Bali and Varese (Italy) through the internet data in live streaming. This action retrace the fact of how this natural phenomenon happens in many places in the world, the big vortex of acid is everywhere, and this installation want to connect people from many places of the world, looking toward nature as a common space.
